About the Show
Misfortune is an hour‑long theatrical magic show created by magician Evan Northrup. Based in Salem, Massachusetts, it explores the eerie world of superstitions and (un)luckiness, blending immersive storytelling with astonishing sleight‑of‑hand. The show is mysterious, a little spooky, but always magical and fun. Intended for adults, but children over 13 are welcome.
Presented in partnership with the Salem Athenaeum, performances take place in their historic library space. Seating is intentionally limited to preserve an intimate atmosphere—plan ahead so you don’t miss your chance to experience Salem’s premier parlor magic show.

Venue & Partners
Performances take place at the Salem Athenaeum, a 19th‑century library just steps from downtown Salem. The brick building’s intimate reading rooms create the perfect setting for a close‑up magic show—guests are immersed in the mystery from the moment they enter.
We’re proud to partner with the Salem Athenaeum, an independent membership library dating back to 1810. In October the Witch City bustles with visitors—over a million people flocked to Salem in 2024 and the numbers keep rising. Our collaboration helps ensure that both residents and travelers can enjoy a world‑class theatrical experience without leaving town.
